Gijs Bakker, Richard Hutten és Ineke Hans, akiknek munkái a Via Milano -New Dutch Design kiállításon megtekinthetők személyesen is eljönnek a fesztiválra és pénteken 4 órától előadást tartanak munkáikról.

A három napos workshop témája: a modern város változó szerepeinek vizsgálata. A vizsgálat középpontjában a modern, kozmopolita város mint személyes interface áll, melyek tagjai, az ún. random generációk egy poszt-poszt modern világban mozognak.

The lessons drawn from dérives enable us to draft the first surveys of the psycho-geographical articulations of a modern city. Beyond the discovery of unities of ambience, of their main components and their spatial localization, one comes to perceive their principal axes of passage, their exits and their defences. One arrives at the central hypothesis of the existence of psycho-geographical pivotal points. One measures the distances that actually separate two regions of a city, distances that may have little relation with the physical distance between them. With the aid of old maps, aerial photographs and experimental dérives, one can draw up hitherto lacking maps of influences, maps whose inevitable imprecision at this early stage is no worse than that of the earliest navigational charts. The only difference is that it is no longer a matter of precisely delineating stable continents, but of changing architecture and urbanism.—Guy Debord—Theory of the DériveThis three-day workshop is dedicated to the investigation of the modern city as a "personal interface": a quick-scan of the changing roles of the city in a post-post-modern world — for the members of the so-called "Generation Random". We will investigate the different aspects of a cosmopolitan city using Budapest as a test case. Working quickly using the tools of fieldwork, the participants will observe and analyze the systems and flows of people, information, and culture through the city. We are interested in investigating the boundaries where urban planning, information and media technologies and graphic design overlap.The results will be documented in an attempt to map our findings in an alternative cartography of Budapest anno 2008.
